Does Temple fully pay for health insurance for part-time TAs and RAs?

Unfortunately, no. The current contract requires Temple to pay a subsidy proportional to the TA/RA’s level of employment. Temple pays 100 percent of health insurance premiums for TA/RAs working 20 hours per week. The University pays 75 percent of premiums for TA/RAs working 15 hours per week, 50 percent for those who work 10 hours per week and 25 percent for those working 5 hours per week.

How do I get my 15% Temple bookstore discount?

The bookstore has a list of TAs and RAs. When you reach the counter to make your purchase, you should identify yourself as a TA or RA, give your name, present your ID if you are asked for it, and the clerk will check your name against the list.  You should then receive the discount.

Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties in receiving your discount by contacting our office at 215-235-0512 or at union@tugsa.org.
